About me

I'm tari aka Jonathan, a Serbian guy currently studying animation! I mainly spend my time rotating little colorful guys in my head and then making my friends perceive them through my art or writing. As of right now, my stories mainly revolve around mental health, identity and most important to me, being freaky without shame. I really enjoy the psychology of the human mind, what philosophies people hold, why do we do the things we do and the sort. Talking to others about these things intrigues and inspires me deeply.

I'm using this site to talk about whatever the hell I want, take a breather away from the online persona I made and give myself initiative to do the things I wanted to do since forever. A form of self healing you could say! I hope you enjoy your stay and remember to own your own weirdness!

Silly things I do

Art

Art has been a thing hogging my brain for all my life! Been drawing and making funny people in my head since I can remember. I really love drawing any sort of slice of life, love, the little things in our life... There is a beauty in the small everyday amusements, the details. Besides that, I also adore character design.

Writing

I got into writing around mid-late 2023 because of a friend. We were working together on a zine project as hosts and I talked about how the writers in it are making me motivated to write. Given that she was the proofreader/editor for the projects, she offered herself up to review whatever I scribble down. Never stopped loving it since. I am a big enjoyer of writing dialogue and describing the environment, setting the mood... Anything that makes the character feel more alive

Classically trained since no idea when honestly, been a handful of years. I went to private classes and at the time hated the compositions I had to learn, but quite frankly I look upon them fondly now. There will be a list added to 'I could do that page' with the things I want to learn on guitar. Sometimes I enjoy trying to compose myself.

Cooking

I barely cooked for myself beforehand, mainly since my parents would cook and not really lack of knowledge. When I moved abroad for my university though, good lord... I could cook all day if asked honestly. It's not anything revolutionary [how good can dorm student food get ig], but I'm out here begging my friends to cook for them.

Artbooks/formatting

I've participated in a handful of small online artbooks [though people call them zines now] as a contributor and decided to try modding in April of 2023. Due to being a graphic design major in my highschool, I decided to take up mainly the role of formatting mod. Are they the best thing ever? No, far from it. Do I love it? Absolutely!! Gaming

Loved games since I know about myself! They’ve been a major source of inspiration to me and I would like to get into making games too! Currently learning ren.py to make silly little visual novels! My most prominent and obvious obsession is Splatoon, going strong for maybe 8 years right now [oh brother] making me design a lot of Ocs that I adore. Recently though, I have started divorcing my characters from the universe as I wish to do more.

HTML/CSS

I wanted to learn this for the longest time, but that was super intimidated. Ended up having a coding class at university that got replaced by prompting AI to do the work for us, so I got pretty spiteful, grabbed my friend who knew how to code and got to work. Huzzah this site was born! Didn't expect I'd get this obsessed with it though, it's taking over my brain....

manifesto

I am putting forward this manifesto as a reminder of who I am, what I'm here for and what I want to be. I should never forget my roots or lose my sight of my goal, thus I vow to adhere to the following principles as a person and artist:

  1. Do not be afraid of your art or humanity.
  2. Approach anything in good faith and an open mind, you learn while you're alive.
  3. Create work with utmost sincerity, honesty and heart.
  4. Create stories that show real life as it is, with all it's beauty and rot, regardless how fictional the setting is.
  5. Connect people through your work. Inspire, provoke, comfort, open, change and promote self-betterment.
  6. Keep your work as accessible as possible to the world.
  7. Give back whatever and whenever you can, support your peers and form community.
  8. Be weird.
  9. Be yourself.
  10. Own it no matter the circumstances.
  11. Never forget that.
